PhD Title
Chemical probes for the detection of bacteria
Project Summary

Developing molecules that selectively target bacteria and have different functionalities that enable a range of diagnostic tests, assays and therapies.

Key Activities

Created a proof-of-concept prototype lateral flow test. Currently scaling and developing pieces of the prototype.

Finding the best way to selectively bind bacteria to a surface and to combine surface selective binding and nanoparticle-selective binding onto the same area.

How Proteus is Helping Me Grow and Develop as a Researcher

I enjoy the conversations with other researchers and the chance to learn about what they are doing and get ideas from them. The interdisciplinary nature of the group's research gives an exciting mix of applying chemical and biological knowledge. My project is giving me lots of opportunities to work across subject boundaries.
