Jim joined the Proteus IRC in 2014 as a post-doc researcher working on developing new optical fibres for clinical applications. Building on research and collaborations established in the first phase of the IRC, Jim successfully won a three-year EPSRC-supported fellowship. Jim’s recent focus has been on ensuring the Panoptes fibres are fit for purpose for both clinical use and eventual commercialisation. He is building an interdisciplinary research group that participates in the technology development trajectory from fundamental research to the clinic.
